Who doesn’t feel a little run down at this time of year? It’s close to the winter solstice, the days are short, the nights are long, and both are cold! Combine that with travel, shopping, parties, and cooking for a crowd, and chances are you need a break.

Homemade Hot Chocolate
Servings: 2-3
Total time: 7-10 minutes
Ingredients
1 ½ cup of oat milk
½ cup of coconut milk
4 tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder
2-4 tbsp. of honey or maple syrup
sprinkle of kosher salt
1 tsp. of vanilla extractoptional spicy version: sprinkle of cayenne powder
optional sweet version: whipped cream and a candy cane
Directions
In a pot on medium heat, whisk the oat milk and coconut milk.Add the cocoa powder and stir well.
When the cocoa powder has mixed properly with the milk, add the honey or maple syrup.
Stir in the salt and the vanilla until a small layer of foam has formed on the top.
Pour mixture into two cups.
If you’d like to make it extra special (you deserve it), add whipped cream and a sprinkle of candy cane on top, or alternately, for the spicy version, a sprinkle of cayenne.
